I’m Srija, a conscious fashion designer based in Kolkata, India. My passion lies in developing and creating ideas mindfully at every step of the design process. I strive to blend aesthetics with sustainability, ensuring that each piece I design reflects a commitment to both style and environmental responsibility.

My Story

My journey began in my childhood, deeply rooted in the vibrant cultural heritage of Bengal. Growing up in Haldia, surrounded by art and craft, I was subconsciously trained to appreciate art and craft. This rich environment shaped my senses and laid the foundation for my future.

It was my privilege to be able to study at Raffles in Singapore, a transformative experience that allowed me to consciously incorporate those early influences into my design philosophy. My time there taught me that design is more than just aesthetics; it’s about problem-solving and addressing real needs. It took me time to navigate my path, ultimately leading me to embrace conscious decision-making in my work.

With years of experience in the fashion industry, I am committed to creating designs that are not just visually appealing but also sustainable and responsible. I believe it is my duty as a designer to ensure that my creations do not contribute to the existing problems in the apparel industry, which desperately needs rethinking and reworking.

I envision a world where no creation harms any species or our planet. Being a fashion educator for past three years, I strive to impart this vision to my students, encouraging them to think critically and creatively about their role in the industry. I hope to continue learning and reevaluating myself as a designer, making meaningful contributions to an industry in need of change.
